As Global Coordinator for Education Services in the Pacific Area, we have the privilege of involving volunteers in working with nationals to help facilitate translation of the Bible into the language that speaks to their heart. Indonesia & Papua New Guinea are two of the countries with the largest concentrations of language groups without the Bible in their native tongue. With recent new approaches to Bible translation developed by Wycliffe Associates, we are not only teaching English to national translators to help improve their understanding of Scripture and reduce errors in translation; we are now teaching translation principles and coaching them through the process - significantly reducing the time for translation while maintaining (and even improving) accuracy. This means more quickly getting God’s word to the hearts of people where it can transform their lives.
